Brazil, the world's third-largest feed producer and a leader in animal protein exports, hosted one of the main technical gatherings of the global animal nutrition and grain processing industry. From September 16 to 18, São Paulo welcomed the 2nd edition of VICTAM LatAm and the 1st edition of FEED Formulation Latin America, which together brought over 200 exhibitors, 350 brands, and 6,122 professionals from 30 countries across Latin America. In addition to the trade fair, the program featured more than 80 hours of technical content, distributed across conferences and seminars led by national and international institutions.

A highlight of this year's edition was FEED Formulation Latin America, an international technical congress focused on technology, equipment, ingredients, and advances in feed formulation for the industry. Another parallel event was Grapas LatAm, dedicated to flour milling and grain handling, featuring conferences and around 100 exhibitors from the segment.

According to Sebas van den Ende, General Manager of VICTAM Corporation, the combination of a trade fair, workshops, an international technical congress, and partner seminars reinforced VICTAM's role as a hub where research, industry, and innovation converge. 'The expectation for 2025 was to further strengthen connections between equipment manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, and the animal nutrition industry in Latin America,' he said.

Program

FEED Formulation Latin America was organized by the Feed Technology Institute (FTI), created by Evonik (a German multinational and global reference in animal nutrition additives), DSM-Firmenich (a Dutch-Swiss company specializing in nutrition, health, and biotechnology), and Nutral/UFPR (a Brazilian academic center dedicated to research and innovation in feed formulation). In total, the program exceeded 80 hours of technical content, divided among conferences and seminars conducted by national and international institutions. 'The goal was to create strategic connections between different markets and boost the animal nutrition sector in Latin America,' added Sebas.

The program also featured the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS), an international association that promotes global standards for responsible soybean production. The organization hosted a block of conferences on September 17 and 18, bringing together producers, companies, and social organizations to discuss traceability, regenerative agriculture, and international regulations such as the EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation).

Another highlight was a conference organized by Embrapa, which brought together five of its research units: Fisheries and Aquaculture, Soybeans, Goats and Sheep, Swine and Poultry, and Embrapa Maranhão. According to Roberto Manolio Valladão Flores, researcher at Embrapa Fisheries and Aquaculture (CNPASA) and conference coordinator, the theme was 'animal nutrition for sustainable and resilient systems', in alignment with the institution's preparation for COP30 – the UN Climate Change Conference – to be held this November in Belém. 'We wanted to show how research can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening sustainability in different production systems,' explained the researcher.

Other institutions that participated included the Brazilian Society of Animal Science (SBZ), the Brazilian Association of Cereal Companies (ACEBRA), the National Union of the Animal Feed Industry (Sindirações), GMP+ International, the National Association of Grain Exporters (ANEC), and the Brazilian Association of Mineral Supplement Industries
(ASBRAM).

The international awards organized by British publisher Perendale Publishers, in partnership with VICTAM, also marked the first day of the event. According to CEO Roger Gilbert, the goal of the Feed Formulation Latin America Innovation Award 2025 is not only to recognize the best feed formulation products on the market, but also milling practices for both feed and flour that, in addition to seeking quality and efficiency, take into account energy use, environmental impact, and carbon reduction.

The Feed Formulation Innovation Award was won by Gradefeeds (Benin) and IFF (Germany). The Best Practice Feed Milling Award went to the Brazilian company Grandfood, with an honorable mention for C.Vale. The Best Practice Flour Milling Award recognized Moinho Globo Alimentos, also from Brazil.

Exhibition with Machines and Solutions for Animal Nutrition

The fair also served as a showcase for machines and technologies for animal nutrition, milling, and grain storage. Companies from Europe, Asia, the United States, and Latin America presented equipment such as extruders, mixers, silos, drying systems, coolers, bagging machines, dosing systems, sensors, and industrial automation software. The solutions covered different species – including pet food, poultry, swine, and cattle – and production profiles. According to the General Manager of VICTAM, the presence of these exhibitors broadened business opportunities, especially at a time when the U.S. dollar was at its lowest level in the past 12 months, which favored the acquisition of imported equipment during the event.

The pet food segment also had a strong presence, with exhibitors focused on formulation, functional additives for dogs and cats, digestibility, and extrusion. The growth of this segment reflected the continuous expansion of the pet food market, which consumed 4 million tons of processed food in 2024 and was expected to reach 4.2 million tons in 2025, according to Sindirações.

About VICTAM
Founded in the Netherlands in 1964, VICTAM is one of the world's leading technical trade shows for the animal nutrition and grain processing industry. Headquartered in Utrecht, it holds regular editions in Europe, Asia, and Africa. In 2024, VICTAM Asia, held in Thailand, welcomed nearly 9,000 visitors from 73 countries and featured 315 international exhibitors. Brazil was chosen as the host country for the Latin American edition due to its importance in animal protein production and its potential to attract professionals from across Latin America. The first edition, held in São Paulo in 2023, gathered more than 150 exhibitors and 4,300 visitors from 43 countries.
