Luca is a food technologist with a PhD in agri-food economy. He brings extensive experience in technical and regulatory affairs, with a strong background in feed law, specialty feed ingredients, and EU risk-assessment processes. Before joining FEDIAF, he served as Technical & Regulatory Manager at FEFANA – the EU Association of Specialty Feed Ingredients and their Mixtures, where he had a key role in numerous strategic projects, including the revision of the EU feed additive legislation, advancing feed ingredients sustainability, leading EFSA stakeholder engagement platforms, and overseeing consortia of companies dedicated to feed additives re‑authorisations.  His previous experience includes serving as Senior Advisor at UECBV (European Livestock and Meat Trades Union), giving him in-depth knowledge of animal by-products, supply chain dynamics, and interconnections between the feed, food and livestock sectors.

Over the years, he has worked closely with EU institutions, scientific bodies and industry partners, gaining deep expertise on dossiers central to the pet food sector.   In his new role at FEDIAF, Luca will lead the Association's technical and scientific work, supporting members across a wide range of topics and ensuring that the sector's positions are underpinned by robust evidence and aligned with the highest standards of safety and quality. He will also play a key role in representing the pet food industry in technical discussions with the European Commission, EFSA and other stakeholders, contributing to constructive and science-based policymaking.

His appointment further strengthens FEDIAF's technical capacity at an important moment, as the Association continues to engage on major regulatory files shaping the future of pet food, animal nutrition and sustainability across Europe.

FEDIAF is delighted to welcome Luca to the Secretariat and looks forward to working with him in support of our mission: ensuring that safe, nutritious and high-quality pet food is supplied to Europe's millions of pets.
